SPI has signed an agreement with the Metro Futsal League based out of Fairfax County to organize and manage the Western Futsal League (WFL). The WFL will be based out of Loudoun County, Virginia but due to the exclusivity of the agreement hopes to attract teams from as far west as Clark and Warren Counties to play in indoor courts throughout the area this coming winter 2017-18.
The Metro Futsal League and now the WFL are officially sanctioned by the US Youth Futsal Association, the largest national futsal organization affiliated with US Soccer. The association has 60+ leagues throughout the country, 7 Regional tournaments and a National Championship. USYF it is the fastest growing futsal organization in the U.S.
SPI President, Andy Vera, had this to say, “It’s our hope to attract teams from as far west as Warren County to play at very convenient locations. It’s our pleasure to work with Fernando (Parada) on this expansion project…having the USYF seal of approval will ensure a quality league with certified referees, excellent facilities, convenient locations and proper applications of game rules.”
The goal of the WFL is to educate players and parents regarding the game of Futsal in counties “west” of the Washington DC area. We are eager to provide opportunities for all soccer players and clubs in our western counties to develop their soccer skills playing FUTSAL another version of the “beautiful game”!
